Our History and Accomplishments
BlueStone Ministries is a registered 501c3 non- profit organization co-founded by St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, native Keith Stone and his wife Cindi in July of 2007. In 2005 following the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, while serving on staff at The Harvest in Lexington, South Carolina, the Stones mobilized local businessmen, churches, fire departments, and the South Carolina Federal Task Force to send more than $750,000 in food, equipment, and financial help to the residents of St. Bernard Parish, in addition to rescue workers with SC Task Force One (SCTF1). In 2007 Keith and Cindi Stone left their positions at The Harvest and liquated their assets to moved back to St. Bernard to assist in the rebuilding of the Parish.
Since 2007, in an effort to help victims of Hurricane Katrina rebuild their lives, Blue Stone Ministries has:
- recruited and housed more than 2,000 volunteers, helped raise more than $5 million for families, churches, rebuild organizations, helping to bring many displaced families back to St. Bernard Parish.
- Led more than 500 people to a life changing decision to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior
- Helped more than hundreds of people in Healing Rooms receive healing in the physical, emotional, and spiritual areas of their lives
In 2008 we became members of St. Bernard Community Recovery (SBCR) a collaboration of non-profits working together to meet the basic needs of residents of the community of St. Bernard Parish. In 2009 we were elected to the position of Chairman and served a 1 year term.
In September 2008 during the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav we organized several members of SBCR and two local churches to provide 4,000 meals to families living in Eastern St. Bernard waiting for electricity to be restored to operation.
In 2010 we coordinated local pastors to provide 450 hours of free counseling to fishermen and their families during the Gulf oil crisis, and the distribution of more than 100,000 pounds of free food to hundreds of families directly affected by the oil crisis.
Our efforts have been recognized by state and local government, the United Way, BP, Toyota, Crossville tile, the St. Bernard Pastors Coalition, and hundreds of individuals.
